  2.                     Review: Midi Maze II

  5. Midi Maze I was a multi-player  game where you could connect
  6. STs together and battle it  out  with each other. There were
  7. no power-ups,  no  extras  -  the  entire  concept  was very
  8. simple. Just shoot when you see your opponent.
  9.  
  10. Now, Midi Maze II is  available.  This makes it possible for
  11. up to 16 STs to be  linked  together and there are plenty of
  12. power-ups to be bought and loads of mazes to play on.
  13.  
  14. For those of you who've never played the original Midi Maze,
  15. I'll tell you what you have to  do..... Each person is a big
  16. smiley face of a different colour.  The  aim is to go around
  17. one of several mazes and shoot  each  other until one of you
  18. scores one hunred money  points.  This  is  when the game is
  19. over. If more than two STs are  linked, then you can play in
  20. teams; if sixteen STs are  linked  then there could be eight
  21. teams of two players.  In  version  two,  there are loads of
  22. power-ups to be bought which can  be  anything from a map to
  23. invisibility; the better the power-up, the more expensive it
  24. is.

  26. The  game  works  in  monochrome  as  well,  using  dithered
  27. patterns instead of colours to  identify opponents, and it's
  28. just as playable. What this means is that nobody is left out
  29. in the cold....

  31. All the mazes  you  play  on  give  a  fast  response to the
  32. joystick, except one. This maze is  called the Mega Maze and
  33. as it is so big, it uses a lot of CPU power for the computer
  34. to find out where you and your opponents are. Of course, the
  35. more STs connected together, the  slower  the response - but
  36. not by much!

  38. Midi Maze II  is  a  very  playable  and  addictive  game. A
  39. brilliant soundtrack is played at  the beginning of the game
  40. to liven things  up,  and  the  graphicsare  pretty  good in
  41. colour and monochrome.

  43. Providing you know someone with  an  ST  then you should get
  44. this game now. You'll be on  it for months, I can guarantee.
  45. Perhaps the next one will  have  modem  support - then we'll
  46. make BT even bigger profits than they already have!!
